Birthday Wishes for Friday Mashup!

Morning friends!

This week the Friday Mashup crew has a fun birthday and stencil mashup to play along with!

Here's the challenge:

Here's what I came up with:

Remember yesterday how I said mashups work well for 2 blogs, but not for the one I need to mashup? For months I've been haphazardly trying my Spellbinders Embossibilities and haven't had much luck. So for this card I was determined to figure it out. First I stenciled the colors using sponges then ran it through the big shot and it worked pretty well. (The embossing is hard to see in the picture) I CASED the project on the Spellbinders package and did a lot of altering until I got it worthy of using, ha. (It's been one of those weeks!) I have a hard time with the Brights color family. They are just too much for me sometimes! There was too much teal, so I scored it down to make a gift card holder.

I hope you play along with us at the Friday Mashup! If you haven't heard, our challenges are now 2 weeks long, so they give you lots of time to play along!

Supplies:
Paper: Taken with Teal, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Inks: Taken With Teal, Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight.
Stamps: Blue Ribbon (ret)
Accessories: Word window punch, Spellbinders Embossibilities die, Tangerine Tango pompom trim (ret), rhinestones, scallop punch.

Happy New Year!!!

Holy cats, friends!

Can you believe it's 2016!!

I feel like my blogging dropped off a cliff the month of December! Wow!

I had EVERY intention of catching up, but it just slid down the priority (maybe Festivus) pole.

I'd say the new year brings peace and relaxation, but it will be exactly the opposite. We have back to back birthdays (Jan, Feb, and 2 March) with sprinklings of holidays in-between. My son's middle school wrestling season is kicking off with 2 matches a week until February! I have derby games scattered between Fairbanks and Anchorage and back, and I feel like we just won't be home in January.

See you guys in Feb! Haha, just kidding!

To keep with the madness, I've committed to some health and crafting goals to kick off the new year!

--I'm going to do a 365-day run streak of at least a mile per day.

--I'm going to make a card or other small and quick project a day (quick is KEY here folks!)

Also continue to workout, be a better derby player yada yada.......

Since I haven't blogged since early December, here's a quick round up of what I've been doing:

CARD CLUB DAY!!

I have never been more excited to go to a card club in my LIFE! I've been eyeballing all of these beautiful projects from afar, and I'm now finally a member! Even though I'll only be able to enjoy these benefits until June when we leave England. Oh well, bring on the fun while it lasts!!!

Before I add the club cards, I received a beautiful card from my dear friend Belinda!

Isn't it GREAT!! She used the  Elements of Style stamp set (Pg 133 in IB&C) and added a little crystal effects to enhance the center of the flower. She just started a blog, I'll update that once she's finished setting it up!  *UPDATE* http://studiobeedesigns.blogspot.com/  Check her out!!

On to the swaps I received. I'll only put a few on, other wise we'll be loaded down with pictures!! The theme was birthday.

This one is by the talented Mrs. Allison Nelhams
Kathy Pavloski, our gracious club demonstrator
Taleena Bennett with her rock star card!
Cassi ( I just met her, but is quite talented with her gift card holder!)
I don't know who made this one, but it's adorable! (and so manly!)

Mrs Jane Fisher, I found out our hubbies are TDY together. Lucky them....or us...? Hmmm...
Lisa Claxton with her purse card holder
I don't know who made this, I think it was the other Kathy...but I'll be casing this for Evan's birthday party invites! LOVE it and so simple! (mine will be pirates, of course!)

So, here are the projects we made today! I love them and were fairly easy to make!

This first one is sooo adorable (as they all are) It is a calender and post-it holder!! How handy is that! It would make the perfect companion to your purse, craft room, or even a gift!! This one uses A Sense of Time stamp set, which is in the current IB&C on pg. 127.  The paper pack is is a retired set, :( its so pretty!

This was the first one my group worked on. It is a "sucker" holder and Evan has decided that this is the treat he'd like to hand out for Valentines day to his first grade class. SO easy and adorable!! This used the new Love Impression paper pack in the new Occassions Mini, along with a punched out Whoo's your Valentine, which is a retired set. I chose the paper flowers and a black satin ribbon for embellishments.

This card is DARLING  (I'll have to wait for its arrival, though! Patience....patience... LOL! )I love the vintage feel of this set and, of course, the cute Puns from the Past stamps (pg. 139 IB&C, which I immediately ordered today!) This card also uses the new First Edition DSP from the Mini and you get SO much in that pack!! It's also black on the other side with white writing, for more crafty options! Also the cherry cobbler seam binding is new in the mini as well!! The lacy punch I'm told is a Martha Stewart punch, and will probably be a soon addition to my room!

I'm in such a crafting mood now!! Nothing like an event like this to get those juices flowin'!! I'll be sad when we PCS to Alaska, but I'll be putting a club together of my own!! I can't wait!!

Next month we are making an 8x8 cookbook! Our swaps will be 13 8x8 pages with our favorite recipe! (So many to choose from!)

Hope you enjoyed today's post!!

As always, have a scrap-tastic day!!
