Snippity Snap for FM 119!

Wahoo! Its been so long since I've submitted anything into Friday Mashup, I kinda feel lost without it! Haha.

 Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the "Sketch".
  2. Create a project with a "Favorite New Stamp Set".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project "using the Sketch with your Favorite NEW Stamp Set".
So, fear not fellow stampers! I'm back with a card that will make you want to pack up your bags and travel the world!
Edit! Take 2: Natural light. Wonder why blogger won't put this under the other one. That's where I put my cursor....

Take 1: Sorry for the light...it's actually getting dark again in AK. Ugh!
For the mashup, I did very little stamping! I liked the DSP that coordinates with this set, and the first idea was the little suitcases all in a pile awaiting their destination! The airplane with the banner are a nice change to the chevron shown in the sketch. It might be hard to see, but the 'away we go' badge is embossed with clear embossing powder. I thought it needed a kick and embossing is muuuuch faster than using Crystal Effects.  Finally, a teeny rhinestone embellishment on the suitcase and we're ready for take-off!

Now, I'm off to bed. Tomorrow is the Golden Days Parade and Festival in Fairbanks and the Fairbanks Rollergirls are skating in the parade! It'll be an early morning because I played with my stamps tonight instead of swapping wheels and getting everything ready for tomorrow. Ah well.  I'll edit this post with my supplies used as well.

Have a stamptastic day!!

What I've been up to Part 2

Hi there! Here is the second installment of what I've been up to... all short and sweet-like!

A simple CASE. This stamp set and embossing folder perfectly coordinate (even if my alignment doesn't). I inked with Versamark and used Iridescent Ice embossing powder. A little pearl makes the bird's eye pop!
.
Birthday Card for Mom. I was hesitant about this set and it is simply elegant!

I made sandwich bags. I am NOT a sewer. I think I can sew, and these are easy for the novice like myself, but man they took a LONG time. Oh well. The top ones are SnackTaxi brand and I used them as my pattern. The second picture are the ones I made. I used PUL fabric (used for cloth diapers). So far they are holding up, despite my crappy sewing/velcro alignment.
Ooh, pretty! I should've saved myself the trouble and bought more of these.
Don't judge. I was trying to save plastic baggies. They work.

I cased this card from the Annual IB&C. I love this 'Tape It' set.

Moose! This mom and calf have payed me quite a few visits over the summer. I love their company.
:)

That's all for today! Hope you are having a great week!

Woah! What I've been up to since February! Pt. 1

I apologize. I'm a big ol' slacker when it comes to maintaining my blog. I have some good reasons though:

1. I was enrolled in school at the time
2. Kids. 'Nuff said.
3. Roller Derby. I love it but it is very time consuming with practices/meetings/events.
4. My husband was gone off and on from October to March with training.
5. Now that it is finally summer in Alaska (we are currently enjoying 90+ degree temps) we are exploring our great state! Just over a month ago we were getting snow. Cra-zay!

Don't fret, I've still made a few things. Just haven't had a chance to post them (even though I spend a lot of time on the computer. Doing unnecessary things. Ugh.)

Here they are:
******** SPOILER ALERT: If you are my lovely in-laws, please check back in a few days. After you have received 2 cards in the mail. Thanks! ***********
A group of cards for a Nurse's Banquet gift

Cased from Mary Fish made for the Nurse's Banquet

Mother's Day card, cased from Mary Fish

Birthday Card for my Father-in-Law, cased from the June/July Stampin Success

Anniversary card for my in-laws. Cased from Southern Inkerbelles

A little something for the hubby. Cased from the 2013-14 Annual SU Catalog
Thanks for stopping by! I have lots more, just didn't want to overwhelm! Lets hope I post 'Part 2' in a timely manner :)

**Note: I'm addicting to Case-ing. It's okay! We crafters Copy And Share Everything (CASE). If I like your idea, and have the supplies, I'm making it! I'll give you credit, don't you worry.

Hope you have a stamp-tastic day!!

Another Valentine

I ventured to Michael's the other day, and boy I'm glad I did! I found a whole rack of Washi tape for 1.49! That stuff is regularly 6.29 or some craziness! This tape is really fun and you get so much of it!

While I was driving home, I had an idea for a CAS card, so here is what I came home to make.

As much as I like to embellish and make things really pretty, that takes a lot of time. This card I made in about 5 minutes. It took me more time to find my sentiment. (It is tiny and part of a set that I didn't think of.)

Anyone remember SU's Love Bots Valentines? They have been retired a few years but are still adorable! My good pal, Belinda, sent me her set after not needing them. Evan and I assembled them, added a Crunch heart, and they are on their way to school for delivery! I like fun and easy. Bonus when it is stress-free!

Hope you enjoy your Valentine's day. I'm off to buy Evan's birthday present. He turned 9 today!

Have a stamp-tastic day!

Pre-Valentine's Card, HSS 153

As my family and friends all well know, I have an extreme dislike for Valentine's day. Well, I have a dislike for what it has become: a consumerist nightmare. The pressure a guy must feel for this silly holiday must be a headache! Every ad on tv, radio, store, you name it, is geared toward that perfect gift/date. Not only that, the sheer amount of waste for all the garbage that is produced just to be thrown in the garbage! Ugh, what a waste.

Anyway, off my rant. I love to make Valentine's things though. Hypocrite, I suppose. I don't care I just like making pretty things. (I try not to think about them getting thrown in the trash after the holiday. I also like to think that my friends and family know better than to throw my cards away! lol)

My hubby left me to go to Guam and Australia during these cold Alaska months (lucky!) and will be missing Valentine's day. I made this cutie for him to open so he feels the love from home! He'll probably forget about it though. Sigh, I'll allow it...too much sun and salty air getting to his brain.

I love this embossing technique!

Edit: After this originally posted, I've added it to the Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge. Here

I made another super cute Valentine's card today, but that has to wait until Thursday!

Have a stamp-tastic day!!

Keep Calm... Freshly Made Sketches 72

Today I decided to play along with the Freshly Made Sketches crew! I instantly had an idea in mind when I saw the sketch!

Here is what I came up with:

Living in England for many years, I am all too familiar with this 'Keep On...' saying. I originally had the little crown in between the text, but I thought it was too spaced out. I thought I could eyeball and leave enough space to pop up on a dimensional...nope. So, in the corner it went.

I just LOVE these new In-Colors right now! They have to be my favorite bunch yet!

Have a stamptastic day!!

D D D Dora!!

Hey everyone! Today I'm showing off this adorable Dora the Explorer punch art card that I made for little miss Naomi! It was Naomi's second birthday back in December and she LOVES Dora!

This card uses the retired build a bear dies for the body and clothes and punches for head, hair, and backpack. I found the directions here. The trickiest part of this card is the lining of the eyes and mouth. I really think that those lines really make the card. Mine is done carefully, but not as good as the original I cased. Regardless, little Naomi recognized it as Dora and loved it!

I also wanted to keep the card fairly simple (again, for a 2-year old) and just wanted her to like the character on the card rather than all the fancies we sometimes embellish them with.

I just couldn't get her mouth right!

Hope you liked it!

Have a stamptastic day!!
