Retro Watercooler Mashup!

Hey friends!

Today I decided to mashup a few challenges and see what would happen. I chose the Retro Rubber and Watercooler Wednesday challenges!

So, here's what I came up with...

This card is a little out of character for me, but wanted to try a technique and gosh darn it- it was going to work.

Or turn into a finished project that maybe someone else would love.

I kid. It really looks pretty in person.

The technique was to sponge the embossing folder than press it onto the card. While the embossing folder looked awesome, not too much transferred onto the paper. I tried to recreate what the folder looks like and came up with this. It's not my particular style, I know someone (maybe you!) love it! The sentiment is from Occasional Quotes (2011?)

It was fun to just play without guidelines.

Sometimes our brains just need to sponge outside of the lines to be happy.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a stamptastic day!

  1. Hi Jayme, I love your determination "gosh darn, it was going to work". Well it may be a bit outside your usual style but it works. Your brain obviously loved "sponging outside the lines". Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

  2. Great card, Jayme! At least you're brave enough to try something different. I tend to shy away from different. Thanks for joining us this week at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges.

  3. Jayme, I know what you mean about the guidelines or what someone else might expect. It is so much fun to be able just to "play". Sometimes we are just surprised with what we come up with. This has a great splash of color and we are very glad you shared it with Retro Rubber. Hope to see you play often.

  5. Hello Jayme, the great thing about creating a handmade card is that no two will ever be alike, that is the beauty of it plus the fact that you took the time to put an idea to work and see it transformed into something beautiful like this card.
I love the colorful sponging around this embossed image, it looks misty and truly lovely.
Thank you for playing along at Retro Rubber, so glad you shared your card on our gallery. Hope to see you there again soon.
    Hugs,
    Maria Rodriguez.

  12. I do absolutely love it Miss Jaime! This was my favorite folder for this technique. The gold thread adds a nice bit of pop to it as well. Thanks for joining the Watercooler Wednesday gang for a fun color challenge this week.
