Yesterday, I walked to my mailbox to drop a birthday card in and luckily my mail lady had already been by.
Luckily? Yes! There was a new Ulta magazine in there! (Ulta is a beauty store that we recently had open. Its pretty magical, because I live somewhere that doesn't believe in good shopping--anyway)
I love to flip through the pages of the Ulta magazine because there is always pretty color combinations! Like it's their job to show whats "on trend" in the beauty world. Now, there has been times where I've tried (and failed) to recreate what I've found in these pages, but today I think I hit a home run.
Not to toot my own horn.
Today's inspiration draws from the super colorful Clinique Happy box! Doesn't it scream springtime?! (Dear Alaska...please jump on the spring season train. I'm sick of looking at snow.)
I knew I had the colors to make this happen and whipped up the background quite fast. I stamped the Happy and embossed it but wasn't quite pleased in how that was blocking my background, so I colored the outline in black and wiped with a tissue. (next time do this step before embossing so you don't get black smudges everywhere like I did). Then I trimmed to fit better. I added the SAB ribbon, Wink of Stella, and the birthday banner and called it a win!
Speaking of spring, this card fits perfectly with the new Watercooler Wednesday challenge! Its the perfect coincidence! Seriously, it doesn't get better than this, friends! haha.
Sorry about the wonky-sized pictures today, I didn't crop them before uploading and now they are big. Really big.
I'd love to know where you draw inspiration from? Post in the comments below!
PS: Shameless sales pitch. If you love Gorgeous Grunge (the splotchy black spots), NOW is the time to get it as it's being RETIRED. *sobbing* They are still available as of me writing this! (while supplies last- click on the banner below!)
Thanks for stopping in today! I hope you have a stamptastic day!!
Well Jayme, you certainly did hit this one out of the ball park. Luv, luv, luv your colourbox card. It does shout spring, and being from the "wet" coast I know what you're going through in Alaska, believe me. Love the black outline on the letters it really makes them pop! Simply an awesome and "happy" card. Thanks for leading the way on the challenges this week and Happy Stamping!
ReplyDeleteThanks Penny! It was really fun to make! (And not mess up!) We don't have the rain, but our temps were just hovering in the 40's. Its been real nice the last couple days and my snow is melting fast! YAY!
DeleteWell, Jayme, I think your version of the Clinique Happy Box is way better. Love the bright strips of colour. I imagine they lift your spirits. We're still getting snow off and on and then get teased with sunshine and the promise of Spring. I know you're even further north but Spring will happen, I promise. Your card clearly proves that one does not need trees or flowers or other Spring images in order to give the essence of Spring. Those colours say it all. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.
ReplyDeleteThank you Heidi! Thats so sweet! Our backyard is completely melted just working on the front of the house. Also enjoying the rapid gain of daylight as well, which I'm probably more excited about, helped with this card!
DeleteHi Jayme in Alaska. You are certainly welcoming Spring with your beautiful colorful card! Thank you for sharing your inspiration with us on Watercooler Wednesday this week. Well done!
ReplyDeleteHi Heather! Thank you so much!
