Where do you find inspiration?

Good morning!

Yesterday, I walked to my mailbox to drop a birthday card in and luckily my mail lady had already been by.

Luckily? Yes! There was a new Ulta magazine in there! (Ulta is a beauty store that we recently had open. Its pretty magical, because I live somewhere that doesn't believe in good shopping--anyway)

I love to flip through the pages of the Ulta magazine because there is always pretty color combinations! Like it's their job to show whats "on trend" in the beauty world. Now, there has been times where I've tried (and failed) to recreate what I've found in these pages, but today I think I hit a home run.

Not to toot my own horn.

Today's inspiration draws from the super colorful Clinique Happy box! Doesn't it scream springtime?! (Dear Alaska...please jump on the spring season train. I'm sick of looking at snow.)

I knew I had the colors to make this happen and whipped up the background quite fast. I stamped the Happy and embossed it but wasn't quite pleased in how that was blocking my background, so I colored the outline in black and wiped with a tissue. (next time do this step before embossing so you don't get black smudges everywhere like I did). Then I trimmed to fit better. I added the SAB ribbon, Wink of Stella, and the birthday banner and called it a win!

Speaking of spring, this card fits perfectly with the new Watercooler Wednesday challenge! Its the perfect coincidence! Seriously, it doesn't get better than this, friends! haha.

Sorry about the wonky-sized pictures today, I didn't crop them before uploading and now they are big. Really big.

I'd love to know where you draw inspiration from? Post in the comments below!

PS: Shameless sales pitch. If you love Gorgeous Grunge (the splotchy black spots), NOW is the time to get it as it's being RETIRED. *sobbing* They are still available as of me writing this! (while supplies last- click on the banner below!)

Thanks for stopping in today! I hope you have a stamptastic day!!

Product List (Not including Lemon Lime Twist: available June 1!)

  1. Well Jayme, you certainly did hit this one out of the ball park. Luv, luv, luv your colourbox card. It does shout spring, and being from the "wet" coast I know what you're going through in Alaska, believe me. Love the black outline on the letters it really makes them pop! Simply an awesome and "happy" card. Thanks for leading the way on the challenges this week and Happy Stamping!

    1. Thanks Penny! It was really fun to make! (And not mess up!) We don't have the rain, but our temps were just hovering in the 40's. Its been real nice the last couple days and my snow is melting fast! YAY!

  2. Well, Jayme, I think your version of the Clinique Happy Box is way better. Love the bright strips of colour. I imagine they lift your spirits. We're still getting snow off and on and then get teased with sunshine and the promise of Spring. I know you're even further north but Spring will happen, I promise. Your card clearly proves that one does not need trees or flowers or other Spring images in order to give the essence of Spring. Those colours say it all. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

    1. Thank you Heidi! Thats so sweet! Our backyard is completely melted just working on the front of the house. Also enjoying the rapid gain of daylight as well, which I'm probably more excited about, helped with this card!

  3. Hi Jayme in Alaska. You are certainly welcoming Spring with your beautiful colorful card! Thank you for sharing your inspiration with us on Watercooler Wednesday this week. Well done!

  4. Beautifully bright card! Thank you for joining us this week for Gail's Spring Themed Clean & Simple Challenge at Watercooler Wednesday.

Tranquility in Tulips

Good morning friends!

Do you ever see a stamp set and not fall in love with it until someone else posts something awesome with it?

Not me. Never.

As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, we are fortunate to be able to order select items early when a new catalog is about to be released. I LOVED a lot on the pre-order, but not enough to initially buy, ya know? That Tranquil Tulip set stood out to me, but I held off. Then I saw a video using the tulip set and a Label Me Pretty set, which I wasn't a fan of at all.

I. Fell. In. LOVE.

Fast forward to today when both packages are now here and I am in happy stamping bliss land.

Here's what I came up with:

For Mother's Day there were some beautiful purple tulips in my bouquet- which unfortunately made their way to the trash today. I memorialized them with this card. I also wish the Wood Textures DSP would be all in this one pattern, I just LOVE it. Its gorgeous and reminds me of one of our old barns growing up, which had tulips gr…

Earning Alaska First Purchase!

Twice in one day?!

I know, how lucky are you!! Lol!

This afternoon, I am excited to be taking part in the Earning Alaska 2018 blog hop again!! This is a group of demonstrators who are working together to reach their fullest potential and earn the Stampin' Up 2018 incentive trip, which is an Alaskan cruise through the southeastern islands! Exciting right! It's an area that since moving to Alaska I've never been, with the exception of Juneau for a roller derby trip a few years back.

This hop is chalked full of talented demonstrators! They inspire me daily!!

The theme of this hop is "First Occasions Catalog Purchase!" Which is exciting because have you seen the thing! It was page after page of awesome! I have an obsession with birthday stamps. A girl can never have too many!! That said, the first item on my list was the Party Animal suite! I had to have it all. The best part is that SU and Sizzix did a great job of making sure the existing balloon punch coordinated…

Pleated Easter Fun!

Good morning!
As you know, I'm party of a monthly swap group with 9 fabulous ladies in San Antonio and this month's theme was Easter or birthday. Since I already have a TON of birthday cards (they're just SO easy to make) and a stamp set that hadn't been touched yet, I chose to do Easter!
It's more spring, than Easter I found, but......that's fine. Growing up in Wisconsin, (and not from a religious background) easter was the gateway to spring! Green grass, a crisp warming of the air, puddles and bike rides. In Alaska, its snow. That's it. Just snow. Even though it has been really mild this winter. :)
Because of all this snow, I've been in the springtime mood. I've been gravitating to a lot of bright colors and flowers! I just can't get enough of them right now!
After a little pinterest and Stampin' Connection (a service only available to Stampin' Up! Demonstrators) I stumbled upon a pleat card and the rest of my project fell right into…
