So it begins again!

Ahh, the joys of the new school semester! This time I smarter in arranging my class schedule, but not so smart on the credit hour front. 14 hrs!!!!! I'm crazy and I know it. (sing to the LMFAO tune) One class a day(with the exception of 1, don't know how I missed that one), some are close to home, one correspondence...

But I started back Thursday and will be trying to not procrastinate and keep on top of things so when March comes around, I'll be able to properly assess taking incompletes or being able to strut on through, with new baby. Again, I'm fully aware of my crazy...I embrace it really.

But, I have been able to squeeze out a few cards in the last week! I don't think any of these pertain to any challanges, just cute sketches I saw or taken from my Jeanette Lynton books. Do you have any of her books? She is actually the CEO (I'll look this up later) of Close to My Heart (Gasp!!! to all you Stampin' Up! die hards out there) She has a line of scrapbooking books and a few card books that are beautiful and very well written and I wish Shelli Gardner (or any of her talented kids) would pen books that are similar. Plus, all the dimensions are given to use the least amount of paper possible! How a bout that! I can flip though the pages for hours looking at all the beautiful details and so on. I got the Magic book for Christmas, and its all about scrap booking tricks! One day I'll venture down that road, but for now, I'll just look and drool.

Anywho, here's what I've been up to!

This Valentines card was CASED from Jeanette Lynton's Wishes book. I love the look of the "halloween-y colors for it!
**I lied...this one was submitted for Paper Players #79 Tag Challenge. Even if my tag is teeeeeny tiny!**

The is the front of a manly-birthday card for our friend. They are big Oklahoma State fans (his wife is an Alumni) hence the colors. I also wanted a chance to break out my Cricut, so it was used to cut the 'Party Time!' It's not my best, but it's simple and for a man, so that's a double whammy in the difficulty dept! :)

Inside of OSU card. The orange 'happy birthday' is popped up with dimensional.

I CASED this from a card I saw on Stampin' Connection by Dolores Bettner.

Ala-I'm moving ahead a few months!

I'm seriously loving all this free time! Why did I sign-up for school again?? Lol.

This week I've been challenging it up, so I had to play along over at A la Card Monkey , #90, for their weekly challenge! I really liked the theme of Break out the new stuff. Whether new or old, but never used,  or new to you that's for you to decide. They also had a sketch to play along with as well.

This sketch is very similar to the Valentine's card I posted for TSOT and I was very tempted to double dip by posting, but I had another stamp that needed a little bit of love. So, here's what I came up with:

Sorry for the exposure, I really need to learn how to take better pics!

So yes, we're either celebrating Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Flag Day! (Your choice) But this little flag stamp was from last year's summer mini, I believe, and I just had to have him...but we moved shortly after and was neglected :(. Sad, I know. I wish I could give all my stamps the love they so rightfully deserve, but I'm trying! The move from wood-mount to clear mount (using the EZ Mount) is helping immensely. Also helps greatly with storing! Plus, those SU cases are amazing to have around, I can put all kinds of trinkets and treasures in there!

Night of Navy card stock
Real Red card stock
Whisper White card stock

Happy B-day to ME! FM#40

My name is Jayme, and I'm a distressing addict. There, I said it.

I can't help it, clean lines hurt my soul and as hard as I try, I just can't do it.

With that out of the way (I'm sure this wasn't surprising news to anyone) on to today's challenge card! It's Birthday week over at The Friday Mashup, which is perfect, because today is MY birthday! Yay! One last year before the big 3-0! My boys spoiled me early with a new embossing tool (Carl broke mine while fixing his truck...the arctic weather makes regular plastic cords go snap in the cold.) Also got a some spa time! A mani/pedi, eyebrow wax,  and 30 min. pregnancy massage! Bliss! Anywho....

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :
  1. Make a "Birthday" project.
  2. Or Make a project using "Pastels/Chalks or Pastel Colors".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Birthday project using Pastels" .
Here is my project using pastel colors...and distressing...lots of distressing!

Silly room with bad light. Soon we'll have too much sun!

Man, I had a hard time with this...pastels are not my color pallet of choice.  I better change quick, as I'm awaiting the arrival of a baby girl in March.... Hence why once I put it together, I had to distress like mad and wear it out. I like vintage-looking pastels I guess. So, my card looks dirty and I like it. (Suddenly that Rhianna song pops into mind...) Like an old chair that's just too comfy to repair, or a worn out book. (Which I own neither..lol...or the Rhianna song)

Supplies: (SU unless otherwise noted)
Crumb cake card stock and Ink (still want to call it Kraft)
Pretty in pink striped grosgrain ribbon (retired)
Fresh Vintage stamp set (SAB 2012)
Occasional Quotes stamp set (retired)
Dot, Dot, Dot stamp
Wild Wasabi ink
Tea Stain Vintage ink spot (in Distressing kit)
Ice Circles rhinestone brad in purple
Miss Elizabeth's Pastel Doodle DSP (non-SU, a gift, but carried at Micheal's and Joanne's)

Very Vintage Valentine for TSOT #47

Ahh, the joys of my child being back to school! Its a peaceful, quiet, crafty cleaning day! I've done more crafting than cleaning though! I love my child, but after two weeks, its time for him to be back. I don't start my classes until the 19th, what's a gal to do? CRAFT!

So, I stopped by Try Stampin' on Tuesday and found a great sketch to play along with!

Wanting to be girly and fun, in time for Valentines, I came up with this:
Its hard to see the VV seam binding running across the card unless you click on it. :(

Don't you love the 'You are Loved' set from Stampin' up? I was eyeballing it a while back then went to the SU Regional workshop in Anchorage where we used it....I HAD to have it after.  I love coloring this set, always comes out with amazing results.

More Mustard Ink
Marina Mist ink

FM #38 & PP #77

What, two posts in one week! YAY! I have some time on my hands!

Lucky for me, challenge #38 was extended until Jan. 4 giving me a chance to play along! Here's what I came up with! Edit: This card was also entered into Paper Players #77 challenge.

I cased this card from one I saw on Pinterest, but here is the link to SCS that she originally posted on. I changed up a few things, my pin holes don't circle entirely, also scored and sanded the grey paper instead of used striped paper. Also, no button or bakers twine embellishments and a different saying. But, I LOVE this stamp set and jumped at the chance to be able to use it!

Supplies: SU unless otherwise noted
 Real Red polka dot ribbon
I {heart} hearts stamp set
Outlined Occasions stamp set (Sale-a-bration 2012)
Real red ink
Basic grey ink
Whisper white card stock
Crumb cake card stock

Happy New Year!!

Inspired by the gals at Friday Mashup, I've made a card to play along!! (I know, it's been a really long time!)
So, here is my card that celebrates the new year and sparkles!

The top right firework is supposed to be black...its showing up this odd gold color in the picture.  (sorry, couldn't fix that) I really wanted to stick with the traditional black, gold, and silver colors and be as simple as possible. I really like how the different textures and layers add contrast.

Supplies: Stampin' Up (unless noted)
Basic black textured cardstock
Whisper white card stock
July fourth stamp set
Dazzling diamonds glitter gel and glitter (helped the glue dry faster)
Fancy label punch
Delightful Dozen stamp set
Gold embossing powder, Versa-mark, soft suede ink
WOW white twinkle and black sparkle embossing powder
Cuttlebug polka dots embossing folder

Hope you all had a fabulous holiday season and heres to an amazing 2012!
Have a stamp-tastic day!
