Bustin' out an old set and technique!

I'm on a roll! Today I discovered the Red Hot Stampers Sketch Blog!

I am super excited to play along today. I had a few minutes while Felicity was sleeping, so here is what I came up with.

YAY sun! You'll understand if you've been keeping up with my posts.

Showing the baby wipe technique.
I used the baby wipe technique and framelets to make today's card. I am super in love with the framelets and they make me want to chuck my circle scissors cutter to the curb! There is no guesswork with the framelets; just stamp your image, plop a framelet of your choice on top and run through the big shot! Easy peasy! Plus, they are a better bargain than the Sizzix dies. (That's more scratch for stamping goodie...or more framelets!)

The baby wipe technique was something I haven't used in forever (this stamp set is also something not used in forever)! I went to a stamp club recently and that was the technique of the night. Since it was fresh in mind and the Days of Gratitude is a busy set, I thought it would be perfect. So one baby wipe and a whole mess of SU Regal inkers, we now have a tie dyed image. I added a bit of hemp twine and a cute bow to give it just a little more embellishing. I'm bad like that.

Hope you enjoyed and have a stamp-tastic day!

Treats for Freshly Made Sketches #95

I was able to play along at Freshly Made Sketches this week! It's a rare occasion when I get to stamp, much less two days in a row to enter challenges!

For this challenge, I was determined to grab a paper pack, a stamp set and just go with where the layout takes me.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I'll let you be the judge. (It is quite possible that I'm a bit critical.) I have a hard time with simple depending on the day.

Take 2: Ahh, better with natural light!

Take 1: Eek! The darkness isn't agreeing with my cards lately!
It is getting dark in Alaska again. This is not a problem as it helps with sleep, but it sure is doing a number on my cards when taking pictures at night. Those colors are supposed to be Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, and Island Indigo... Anywho. I propped up 'treat' to add a little dimension and added some baker's twine, brads, and a wee pearl on the exclamation point.

Have a stampstastic day!

Snippity Snap for FM 119!

Wahoo! Its been so long since I've submitted anything into Friday Mashup, I kinda feel lost without it! Haha.

 Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the "Sketch".
  2. Create a project with a "Favorite New Stamp Set".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project "using the Sketch with your Favorite NEW Stamp Set".
So, fear not fellow stampers! I'm back with a card that will make you want to pack up your bags and travel the world!
Edit! Take 2: Natural light. Wonder why blogger won't put this under the other one. That's where I put my cursor....

Take 1: Sorry for the light...it's actually getting dark again in AK. Ugh!
For the mashup, I did very little stamping! I liked the DSP that coordinates with this set, and the first idea was the little suitcases all in a pile awaiting their destination! The airplane with the banner are a nice change to the chevron shown in the sketch. It might be hard to see, but the 'away we go' badge is embossed with clear embossing powder. I thought it needed a kick and embossing is muuuuch faster than using Crystal Effects.  Finally, a teeny rhinestone embellishment on the suitcase and we're ready for take-off!

Now, I'm off to bed. Tomorrow is the Golden Days Parade and Festival in Fairbanks and the Fairbanks Rollergirls are skating in the parade! It'll be an early morning because I played with my stamps tonight instead of swapping wheels and getting everything ready for tomorrow. Ah well.  I'll edit this post with my supplies used as well.

Have a stamptastic day!!

What I've been up to Part 2

Hi there! Here is the second installment of what I've been up to... all short and sweet-like!

A simple CASE. This stamp set and embossing folder perfectly coordinate (even if my alignment doesn't). I inked with Versamark and used Iridescent Ice embossing powder. A little pearl makes the bird's eye pop!
.
Birthday Card for Mom. I was hesitant about this set and it is simply elegant!

I made sandwich bags. I am NOT a sewer. I think I can sew, and these are easy for the novice like myself, but man they took a LONG time. Oh well. The top ones are SnackTaxi brand and I used them as my pattern. The second picture are the ones I made. I used PUL fabric (used for cloth diapers). So far they are holding up, despite my crappy sewing/velcro alignment.
Ooh, pretty! I should've saved myself the trouble and bought more of these.
Don't judge. I was trying to save plastic baggies. They work.

I cased this card from the Annual IB&C. I love this 'Tape It' set.

Moose! This mom and calf have payed me quite a few visits over the summer. I love their company.
:)

That's all for today! Hope you are having a great week!
