D D D Dora!!

Hey everyone! Today I'm showing off this adorable Dora the Explorer punch art card that I made for little miss Naomi! It was Naomi's second birthday back in December and she LOVES Dora!

This card uses the retired build a bear dies for the body and clothes and punches for head, hair, and backpack. I found the directions here. The trickiest part of this card is the lining of the eyes and mouth. I really think that those lines really make the card. Mine is done carefully, but not as good as the original I cased. Regardless, little Naomi recognized it as Dora and loved it!

I also wanted to keep the card fairly simple (again, for a 2-year old) and just wanted her to like the character on the card rather than all the fancies we sometimes embellish them with.

I just couldn't get her mouth right!

Hope you liked it!

Monochromatic Blues

Good morning! So instead of posting in order from October,  I just picked a card I made recently.  A friend of mine just lost her grandma to a long struggle with cancer and I was inspired to make a card very similar to one by Mary Fish (she is my stamping crush!). She made this beautiful card that I knew that if I replicated, would be well received.

Below is my version. I used the new Midnight Muse In-Color and I love it! I am in love with this new palette to be honest! I really like the monochromatic look and the individual tiles can be chosen to reflect the person.

Gah! I noticed the smudged tile after taking the picture. It was replaced, don't worry!
The tiles are punched from the 1 1/4" square punch. I also added a little shimmer using Smooch Spritz that I recently purchased off the clearance rack. I am in LOVE with it. I've been smooching everything! I added some sparkly touches here and there and voila! It was a wrap!

Speaking of smooches. Check out my helper! This is how she was occupied while making this card. Never too young to stamp!

Carefully choosing a stamp set.  Look at set, taste test, discard. Repeat.

Retro Sketches 47

Hello all! I got to spend a few hours in my stampin' space and it was amazing! I feel that I don't spend enough time in there for as much as I "invest" in paper goods! School is starting again, so it'll be neglected soon enough, so I was happy to get in there and get inky!

I also had a chance to play along with the Retro Sketches gang and had a great time coming up with this card:

Sorry for the shadow!
I wanted a nice crisp card. I went white on white with a tiny bit of sponging around the edges for a little contrast. Happiness always came to mind when I chose the snowflake theme. The hardest part was laying out the snowflakes and I'm thrilled with how it came out!

Friday Mashup 93

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project with a "Birthday Theme".
  2. Or Make a project using "Brads".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Birthday project with some brads".
Check out the great projects by my fellow Design Team members below and we can't wait to see what you create this week for the Challenge!

Hey everyone! I have finally had a change to get some crafting done! Wahoo! Naturally, I went to The Friday Mashup gang to see what they had in store! Here is what I came up with:

I had a really simple card in mind. I have a hard time with a busy background sometimes and boy was this one of those times! No matter what I did, I just wasn't feeling it. So, I just left it be and will chalk it up as one of those cards that even if I don't like it, someone else will love it. I actually think if I received this card I would be over the moon. Funny how that works.

Been a long time!

Now that I have that Cake song stuck in your head, time to explain my absence. School. Husband away. Kids. Gah! I apologize though and will start posting what I've been doing since October. Here goes!

These are a few cards I made for me nieces and nephews who's birthdays were in October.  I Figured the best place to pick up from is where I left off!  Two of the cards I found on Pinterest (what an addicting site!) But can no longer find the link or the blog has been disabled.

Thanks for stopping by and have a stamp-tastic day!
